Yesterday I wrote all about my new songs over at Reeve Knits. I'm so excited about them and I hope you will come to Femme Fest to hear their debut! I'll be doing a giveaway next week for a pair of Femme Fest tix and one of my new posters:) Remember the posters? Here's a sneak peek...

Christmas Eve service at LFC. No you can't see me in the photo but I was singing this song and it was so beautiful to see from stage. Photo stolen from HERE!
I've been obsessed with The Civil Wars! Have you heard them yet? I'm in love. It's like the first time I heard The Swell Season, but better (shhhh, don't tell the swell season I said that cause I do love them too :) Anyway, I hope you will give these videos a listen. I'm pretty sure if you are reading this blog then you will love them too. You can find free downloads of their music HERE and HERE!
Their first full-length record comes out Feb. 1st, 2011 and I know I'll be getting it. Looking forward to listening to this song on my iPod instead of on youtube (over and over again).
This is the first song I heard them do and I went right to the computer to download their ep. You can buy it HERE for a whopping $3.69.
and here's a live one from The Muse. I so wish I could have been there :( Maybe they'll come back soon!
um...freakin' billie jean!
i want you back - can't get any better. I ♥ them!
The first song they wrote togther!? Incredible. Don't you just love watching them sing?! Such great chemistry!
A few weeks ago I asked two of my friends to help design a new poster for me. Flavio Mangione (my bass player, he's so multi-talented) will take my ideas and turn it into a poster. Rodney Lanier (local musician and fabulous Evening Muse doorman) of Tighten-Up Press will be printing it for me. I also got permission from one of my favorite local artists (Kate Vasseur) to use one of her paintings. Here’s what my old poster looked like ...
I loved this poster dearly. It lasted many a year and hung on many a wall. My friend Mariel drew it for me when we were in college and Rodney printed it. I will miss this poster, but it’s a new day, new music, time for a new poster!
I sent both guys some shots of one of my favorite posters I’ve kept. It was printed by Mile 44.
I love the design and the size! Now you may think that the size would make it not stand out as much, but I disagree. I think throwing a different size up on a wall full of posters brings the “reader’s/concert goer’s” eyes right to it. Plus, it saves paper!
Here’s a shot of the poster next to a regular size poster...
I also love how the designer (who I don’t know the name of) Left a space to write in but it wasn’t your typical space. Do you know what I mean? Usually it’s just a box at the bottom, like my old poster. This
looks like something you could leave blank and it wouldn’t seem empty. And then of course the poster has birds on it...what’s not to love? ;)
Anyway, I thought you might like seeing the beginning’s of a poster...more to come soon!
Ya'll, I just can't begin to tell you how much I love her. She warms my soul with her sad songs. Yes, sad songs. I'm a sucker for them and I have a sneaking feeling she is too. I can't tell you how many times I have played (on repeat) this song while driving somewhere. It kills me every freakin' time!
If you didn't already know, I had the privilege of opening up for her last month. It's actually a funny story. A WEEK before the show I was sitting on my couch putting together my menu for the week and saw that Jill was playing at The Muse on Saturday. So, I thought I would make a bunch of food and have people over for dinner and then walk down for the show. Then I thought to myself "I wish I could open up for her, oh well. Maybe if the opener cancels they'll call me, nah, that never happens." Well, guess what? Less than 24hours later - that all happen. WEIRD!
So I know a lot of you couldn't make the show cause it was really late notice. BUT I wanted you to be able to hear (and see) some of my favorite parts of her set. So, I searched for that particular show (which I call our show) on youtube. And, what do you know? Someone has actually posted videos from our show. So, here ya go...
please, please, please go check her out! You can buy her EP (which is fantastically beautiful) HERE!
