New Poster

A few weeks ago I asked two of my friends to help design a new poster for me.  Flavio Mangione (my bass player, he's so multi-talented) will take my ideas and turn it into a poster.  Rodney Lanier (local musician and fabulous Evening Muse doorman) of Tighten-Up Press will be printing it for me.  I also got permission from one of my favorite local artists (Kate Vasseur) to use one of her paintings.  Here’s what my old poster looked like ...
I loved this poster dearly.  It lasted many a year and hung on many a wall.  My friend Mariel drew it for me when we were in college and Rodney printed it.  I will miss this poster, but it’s a new day, new music, time for a new poster!
I sent both guys some shots of one of my favorite posters I’ve kept.  It was printed by Mile 44.
I love the design and the size!  Now you may think that the size would make it not stand out as much, but I disagree. I think throwing a different size up on a wall full of posters brings the “reader’s/concert goer’s” eyes right to it.  Plus, it saves paper!
Here’s a shot of the poster next to  a regular size poster...

I also love how the designer (who I don’t know the name of) Left a space to write in but it wasn’t your typical space.  Do you know what I mean? Usually it’s just a box at the bottom, like my old poster.  This
looks like something you could leave blank and it wouldn’t seem empty.  And then of course the poster has birds on it...what’s not to love? ;)
Anyway, I thought you might like seeing the beginning’s of a poster...more to come soon!
